Specialist in Commodity Clearing and Settlement
European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) is the central European clearing house for exchange and OTC transactions in power, natural gas, emission rights and coal. Currently, ECC provides clearing services for the Partner Exchanges APX-ENDEX, CEGH Gas Exchange of Vienna Stock Exchange, European Energy Exchange AG, EPEX SPOT SE, HUPX Ltd. and Powernext SA.
ECC is a recognised partner of various European Transmission System Operators and, thus, ensures physical delivery of power and natural gas. In order to perform deliveries of EU Emission Allowances (EUA) and Certified Emission Rights (CER), ECC is linked to the national registry for CO2 emission allowances (DEHSt) as well as to the Dutch emissions trading registry NEa (Nederlandse Emissie Autoriteit).
International Network of Partners
ECC is constantly expanding its range of products, its clearing member network and its exchange partnerships. Its integrated clearing and risk management across different markets and products enables ECC to standardise processes and lower margin requirements, providing members with cross-commodity and cross-currency clearing at reduced costs.
High Level of Security
ECC holds a banking license as a central counterparty and is supervised by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. For every trade ECC steps into the delivery chain, assumes the counterparty risk and guarantees the fulfilment of the transactions. Protection against default is provided through the daily settlement of profits and losses and a margin system comprising various security levels for collateralising the positions.
ECC – One clear connection to commodity markets.
